Social Networking

The concept of social networking has been around to keep us connected with friends and family. Through speech, actions, appearance, etc., we all choose to express ourselves in different ways. Whether if this expression is virtual or physical, we all have our own personal profiles.

A physical social network deals more with going out there and creating the experience. It is the physical way of making friends face to face. It is so live and real that you develop true emotions rather than the skeptical kind. A digital social network is more about connecting with the world through the internet. It is the rise of a new generation. It connects us internet users to old friends, new friends, current friends, family members, random pedophiles and the alike. I believe the two do interact with each other, BUT I also believe that they do not always have to.

In a way, I think it is dangerous. In the world of digital social networking, anyone anywhere can create a profile of themselves. A male can create a social profile as a female, or vise versa, and no one would know, which in my opinion is a little creepy. Private information you put out there can be viewed by everyone. Whether if it is a genuine or false one, emotions are not always played out as true. For example, online, I might say LOL(laugh out loud) to respond to a certain message or comment, but in reality, I am not really laughing out loud, nor do I think it is funny in some cases, and this is probably true to some of you. We say these things for courtesy and affirmation, which brings back to my point that the negatives of digital social networking is that strong expressiveness on screen is not always strong behind screen. The only positive thing I can say about it is that it is an easier way to connect to family and friends from all over the world.
